What is our Purpose?

The fellowship we had on July 4th was wonderful. Nothing compares to being with our Christian brothers and sisters. The love for each other and the tie that binds is strong.

Several have spoken about attitude and encouragement. Both of these are vital to the edification of the church.

Bro. Mike Benson once wrote that there are 4 ways to revitalize a church, organizationally speaking.

  1. Policy Change. This is the easiest. You just adjust the way you do things.
  2. Personnel Change. Fire the minister and get new men in different leadership positions.
  3. Program Change. Create and begin new programs and reorganize.
  4. Clarify Purpose

This fourth point is the most basic. We need to define and act on our fundamental purpose. We have set goals in our program of work, now let each of us work toward them. We have to keep our goals and dreams in front. As we sing, “What ever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord…”

There was a poster motto challenge about reaching for the sun. “You may not reach it, but you will fly higher than if you never aimed at all.”

Let us continue to be like those in Acts 4:32,

“Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul…”

 God’s Word

Isaiah 26:1-4

“1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

2 Open ye the gates that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

Live and Learn and Pass It On

I’ve learned that I should try to keep my words soft and tender, because tomorrow I may have to eat them.

I’ve learned that you can have the most interesting conversations while having your teeth cleaned.
