asking for the prayers of the congregation. We love and
appreciate Dawn and her family.
Men’s Leadership Meeting
The next Men’s Meeting will be Sunday, May 13th at 3:00 p.m.
Bob Freeman will preside.
Pre-school Graduation
The East Gadsden Pre-school will have a graduation program
at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17th. Among the children
graduating are East Gadsden’s Mason Bly and Kayla Gowens. Kelly
Jones has been the director and teacher for 3 years. After the
graduation program she will be resigning her position with the
preschool as she is furthering her education at Gadsden State
Community College. Kelly plans to pursue employment as an
administrative professional. She has done an outstanding job
with our Pre-school. We appreciate her and her ability. There
are no plans as of now to continue the Pre-school. However,
should the need arise in the future, reopening the Pre-school
would be considered.
Honoring Our Graduates
We will be honoring our graduates on Sunday, May 20th after
our morning worship services. Shon Pendley will graduate from
Hokes Bluff High School and David White will graduate from
Etowah High School. Jared Gott will graduate from Freed-Hardeman
University. We will have a noon fellowship meal on that Sunday,
so prepare plenty of food and plan to help us honor our
graduates.
“In House Gospel Meeting”
We will have a ‘One Day Gospel Meeting’ designed for every
member of the East Gadsden congregation on Sunday, May 20th.
Sunday morning we will begin the day with an overall look at our
blessings and responsibilities, followed by lunch together
honoring our graduates and concluding with brief talks by
several of our men concerning specific areas of work and also
singing. We will not have an evening service that day. Let’s all
plan to be here and participate.

Not for
Sale!
A well-dressed couple came into a toy shop with their two children. “We
want some toys that will keep the children entertained,” the mother
said. “My husband and I both work and the children are alone a great
deal.” The salesgirl showed them a variety of games and play equipment,
but to each there was some objection. “It seems to me,” the mother
finally said impatiently, “that if you knew what we are really looking
for, you could find it among these toys.” The salesgirl sighed, “I’m
sorry, madam, but I believe what you are really looking for – what your
children want—is a mother and father, and we don’t sell those here.”
This amusing little story describes the crisis of our society. Fathers
and mothers are not available to raise their children. The worldliness
of our society through computers and television is entertaining our
children and the results are devastating. Parents are so busy making
money they have forgotten about making character. Something must be
done. Our focus and emphasis must change. The Bible still says, “Train
up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not
depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). “And, ye fathers, provoke not your
children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of
the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).
I challenge every father and mother to make the spiritual training of
your children your top priority. The years will reveal that you made a
wise choice.

God’s Word
Psalm 27:7-10 NKJV
7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8 When You said, "Seek My face,"
My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek."
9 Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the LORD will take care of me.
