News and Notes

Guyana Mission Trip
We’re thankful to the Lord for blessing Pat Lambert, James Pendley and Tom Musick with a safe and successful 2 week effort in Guyana . They reported 49 baptisms. We look forward to their full report and power point presentation in the near future.

Storm Tragedy
Our prayers are with all those who suffered loss due to the tornadoes last week. Information is not all in yet, but it appears that one of the teenage girls who was killed at the high school was a member of the College Ave. church of Christ . We will pass on more details when information is available.

“Somebody Loves You Banquet”
26 of our members age 50 and over attended the “Somebody Loves You Banquet” last Sunday. The food was delicious, the decorations were beautiful and the children did a great job in preparing and serving the meal. Several of our young men read scripture and led prayers. All of the children sang songs. Thanks to all the adults and all of our wonderful children who worked so hard in this effort. Everyone appreciated the love and honor shown to them.

The Hodges Are Traveling This Week
Tom, Pam, and the girls will be traveling to Texas after services Sunday morning, March 11th. They will be working on Amy and Robert’s house which was broken into and vandalized recently. They plan to be back in Gadsden on Saturday, March 17th. Remember them in your prayers as they travel.

“Beacons of Light”
Those age 50 and over are encouraged to attend a re-organizational meeting for the “Beacons of Light” on Sunday, March 11th after evening services. This group has done several service projects in the past and they plan to continue this good work.

Reports Available
Bro. Jim Waldron’s latest mission report from India is on the table in the lobby. Also, the GBN (Gospel Broadcasting Network) report is on the table. Expanded coverage, prison work, the Nationwide Gospel Meeting (July 1-3), as well as a programming schedule are detailed.

God’s Word

Heb 4:1-2 NKJV

“4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.

2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”
