News and Notes

Annual Progressive Dinner
Thanks to Jimmy and Jaime Fazekas, Kerry and Kim Gott and Kris and Stephanie Bly for hosting the Progressive Dinner last Saturday.  Over 30 of our members and former members enjoyed the good food and great time of fellowship together.   Everyone agreed that Fred Duke and Nancy Phillips chose the “best gifts” during the “Dirty Santa” game.  Thanks to all who prepared the delicious food for each part of the meal.

Remember in Your Prayers
Gary Sanders
will be deployed to Iraq on Thursday, Jan. 11th.  Remember him and Anna in your prayers as well as Robert and Amy Stigers and their families as they deal with this time of separation and concern for their safety.

Elder Nominations
There is a box on the table in the foyer for your nominations for those to serve as elders at
East Gadsden.  This box will remain out until January 21.

School Supplies Needed
We are collecting school supplies such as paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, crayons, etc. to ship to Robert Stigers in
Iraq.  He will give these items to the children there in Iraq.  We need these supplies as soon as possible.

Good Used Clothing and Medical Supplies

Please bring any good used summer clothing, shoes or flip flops to the building and place in the small nursery for the church in Guyana. Also, we are collecting over the counter medicine such as Tylenol, Band-Aids, allergy/cold-sinus, antacids-Tums, reading glasses with magnification of 1x – 1.5x, pens, pencils and notepads. There will be a plastic container near the small nursery for you to place the medical supplies. These items will be used for the upcoming mission trip to Guyana. See Pat Lambert if you have any questions.

God’s Word

2 Tim 2:1-7  NKJV

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

6 The hard-working farmer must be first to partake of the crops.

7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.”
