Work Day
We had another “Work Day” here at the building this past Saturday. Thanks to Kelly, Vanessa and Hunter Jones; Jack and Pam Jackson; Jaime Fazekas; Tom Hodge; James, Deana and Shon Pendley; Ed Lewis and Sandy Statom for hours or hard work inside and outside of our building. It looks great!

Sympathy
Our prayers are with Lamont and Teressa Hollis and their family in the death of Lamont’s father, and our brother in Christ, Floyd Hollis. Brother Hollis’ graveside service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 25th at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. He was a long time member here at East Gadsden. Remember the Hollis family in your prayers and with assistance in any way possible.

A Day of Blessings
We are thankful to the Lord for the opportunities to worship and study, for the presence of family and friends, for the good food and all the blessings of our “Family and Friends Day”. Thanks to all who prayed and worked to make this day a success.

The Ladies Bible Class meets at 10:00 a.m. every Wednesday morning. Charis Dickson is the teacher for this quarter. We encourage all of our ladies to attend if possible.

A TSUNAMI REPORT

Often those called on to take part in an exciting mission project give with joy and are thrilled to hear reports of souls won and churches planted, but as time passes interest drops off and other events crowd out the special project. It has now been more than 32 months since the Tsunami (December 26, 2004) ravaged the coast of Tamil Nadu in southern India, thus I thought it good to bring you up to date concerning that work in which so many of you participated through your prayers and gifts of love. First, let me give a brief reminder of the horror of that disaster. If one checks with “Google” on the internet they will find that there are about 28,500,000 articles on the subject, but the first one or two give the major facts. The United Nations now puts the death toll at 229,866 and of these, eight died on the coast of South Africa 5,000 miles from the source. The number of those destroyed in India has been set at just over 15,000 with nearly 8,000 of those in Tamil Nadu.

In the first nine months of 2005, with your help and that of other saints, we were able to render physical aid to about 25,000 people. In these two and one half years more than 3,000 have been baptized in the devastated region by Tamil brethren trained in our schools of preaching and over sixty congregations established along the 350 mile coast. Also, this past June Don Iverson spearheaded the effort to organize four new schools of preaching among those new saints. This was accomplished with the efforts of faithful Tamil gospel preachers. This brings to sixteen the schools of preaching that he and I are working with across Tamil Nadu.

By the grace of God, your prayers, your fellowship and that of many like you, the two of us are working with twenty-three Bible Training Schools in five states of India with more than 755 enrolled. On a yearly basis Don and I share the needs of all the schools, but when it comes to day-to-day maintenance he looks after eleven of the twenty-three and I work with the others. For these joyful things may the God of all grace receive all the praise, honor and glory, always.

With love to all,
Jim E. Waldron

God’s Word

Isaiah 43:1-3 NKJV

But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.

3 For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.”

Thank You

East Gadsden Church of Christ,

When I stop to count the good things in my life…I start with you. You mean an awful lot to me. Thank you for the cards and all the offers of help.
